About Hidden Hibiscus
Officially a business in 2023, I have been making soap since January of 2018. My goal was very specific: to make a gentle cleanser for my two children who unfortunately (just like myself) suffered from sensitive and eczema prone skin. Fortunately for my husband, the soaps reversed his bear transformation-at that time no wall corner was safe from being used as a back scratcher.
It wasn't until a year later that I started to put effort into the aesthetics of the bars. Before that point I had only been concerned with the functionality of the soaps and was leary to put any unneeded chemicals or colourants in the bars. Therefore I started to experiment with different natural colourants- mainly clays, and plant based colourants- which could provide skin benefits.
From there I experimented with bath products (salts, bath bombs, bubble bath, etc.), body products (lotions, creams, body butters, salves) and, more recently, hair products. All with the goal of formulating gentle products with great ingredients.
